Hello, after a positive response from my recent poll I figured it might be nice to try this Review thing. Before I go on I must tell you that im not doing this because I think people necessarily care what I think but more because It is useful practise in writing, particularly in Media. I decided that I would review the recent release from Bethesda, "Fallout 3", so here goes...
Fallout 3 is set in a post-apocalyptic planet earth around the year 2277. You start out living in a submarine-looking-place called Vault 101. This takes the form of the tutorial and as anyone who has played "The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" knows, Bethesda make the most interesting and playable tutorials. Once you escape into the vast nothingness of the "Capital Wasteland" (aka Washington DC) the fun really starts.
Mutated people and animals immediately attack you - The Targeting system (V.A.T.S.) is nothing short of wonderful in this situation!!! Being able to choose on the spur of the moment how much effort you want to put into a fight makes battles that would otherwise be boring and repetitive a relative joy!! You can never get tired of watching a Giant Bogey-Green Man with a startling resemblance to Wayne Rooney get his head blown off in a shower of red blood which immediately adorns any surrounding walls.
In fact the most enjoyable side of this awesome RPG is the wealth of guns and weapons, guns that fire Spikes which stick enemy heads to surface, plasma guns which "goo-ify" enemies and a sledgehammer which is powered by some sort of hydrolics or the like - all of these are at your disposal to help you dispatch the Bogey-coloured people who wish to eat you, thereby sustaining their sexy complexion!
You will run into famous places such as Washington's Mall and Abe Lincoln's memorial, all of which seems a little creepy in this irradiated hell hole. Despite this, one can't help but admire the stunning graphics and beauty of the game, the design team must have spent many months getting just the right amount of creepy atmosphere dripping through it.
The story mode is fantastic, the story may be a little predictable but the voice acting of Liam Neeson makes it feel like you are part of a movie. A word from the wise, if you decide to buy this game explore the map before advancing too far through the story mode, ending the main story ends the game.
The script and voice actors are really top-notch and the conversations allow you show whether you're a nice guy or a bad guy. Clearly so much has gone into making this game the very best it can be, to truly get the most out of it I reccommend buying it for PC (if yours can handle it) as you get a lot more control over what happens and can use Console Commands. All in all I give this game a 93%
If you have enjoyed this mini-review please tell me, if you didn't please tell me and if you have any suggestions again please tell me, I can only improve with constructive criticism.
I leave you with some wonderful features of Fallout 3 related art
